GNU Zebra
Digital Magic Labs, Inc. Tel: 03-5447-5837 Fax: 03-5447-5657
GNU Zebra is free software (distributed under GNU Generic Public License) that manages TCP/IP based routing protocols. It supports BGP-4 protocol as described in RFC1771 (A Border Gateway Protocol 4) as well as RIPv1, RIPv2 and OSPFv2. Unlike traditional, Gated based, monolithic architectures and even the so-called "new modular architectures" that remove the burden of processing routing functions from the cpu and utilize special ASIC chips instead, Zebra software offers true modularity.
Zebra is unique in its design in that it has a process for each protocol. Zebra uses multithread technology under multithread supported UNIX kernels. However it can be run under non-multithread supported UNIX kernels. Thus Zebra provides flexibility and reliability. Each module can be upgraded independently of the others, allowing for quick upgrades as well as protection from the case of a failure in one protocol affecting the entire system.
Zebra is intended to be used as a Route Server and a Route Reflector. Zebra is not a toolkit, it provides full routing power under a new architecture.

Network Monitoring and Visualisation Tools by Mike Schulze & Craig Farrell
We have developed a set of tools which may be used to monitor and"display" network communications. Two of the tools provide a real-timepicture of network communications, while the other provides retrospective packet analysis. These tools are designed to allow network managers to passively monitor a network and diagnose common network problems as quickly and efficiently as possible.

ProcTool
This tool monitors and controls processes on a system by providing a GUI interface to ps and providing more flexibility than the public domain top utility. It extracts a huge amount of information from the data structures maintained in /proc for each process and can plot a variety of data graphically on a per system or a per-process basis.

Promiscuous Mode Utility by Jose Carlos Fernandez Rodriguez
Network interfaces can be configured in several reception modes. One of this modes, called Promiscuous Mode, allows the interface to receive all the packets passing through its local network. Standard reception mode, receives only packets delivered to that interface. Promiscuous Mode is usually set by tools like Ethernet Sniffers, and can be a good indicator of existing attacks. With this utility, you can easily watch your system's network interfaces looking for Promiscuous Mode flag set on one of them. Also you can set and clear this flag by yourself if you are root.
